Kurdish Language: Language spoken by the Kurdish population of northern and northeastern Syria, as well as Kurds in Iraq, Turkey and Iran. There are two main dialect groups: The northern group (Kurmanji) and the central group (Kurdi or Sorani). The latter emerged as the major literary form of Kurdish. Subdialects include Kermanshahi, Leki, Gurani and Zaza.
