National Progressive Front (NPF): A coalition of Syrian parties established on March 7, 1972 after the Correction Movement led by President Hafez al-Assad. The NPF consists of five parties under the leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party: Syrian Communist Party, Arab Socialist Union, Socialist Unionist Party, Arab Socialists Party and Socialist Unionist democratic Party. The Front plays a significant role in Syrian decision making.
